Simis are small creatures that, when adult, are half the size of the average citizen of other species. They are covered in fur from head to toe, have pointed ears and a beak that is partially hidden under the fur on their face. But, most remarkably, Simis have are known for being creatures tragically stuck in a society that is not made for them.
It's not that Simis are dumb. Some of them, in fact, are quite smart. But the average Simi struggles quite a bit with the daily life in the galaxy of Erra. What they lack is the ability to picture complex abstract concepts, such as the passing of time or how an economy works as whole. What they cannot see or hear, they need to be trained to visualize. Their language also reflects that: it's simplified, often very direct ("I went to the story. I saw a shicken on the way. I tried to pet the shicken.") and some individuals even speak of themselves in third person. Their attention span can be short unless it's for practical tasks and, most importantly, they have NO patience for paying their taxes.
Because of those struggles, they have been historically described as deficient, in need of guidance, unfit for independence... and, sadly, those terms were often used to defend their enslavement, deportation, selective breeding, and other "niceties" as they were treated both as cheap labor AND animals at the same time (despite their vocal protests). Thankfully, after a long legal battle, they are now free from such things (officially) and have been for a long time.
But that does not solve the tax problem.
Some Simis would love to live in a society tailored for them, which would most likely be one of hunter-gatherers. Alas, their home-world has been declared protected space a long time ago and cannot be legally reached or visited - the original Simis live there, blissfully unaware that the legends about giant rocks in the sky taking their kind are actually true. For all the others, that still live all across the galaxy, they must make-do with what they have, and that might mean picking a guide for themselves.
Simis are highly sought after assets for any business - it is an unofficial "badge of honor" and a proof of ethical treatment of their employees in the eyes of the public. On top of that, they are generally viewed as cute and endearing - even the proud Wurthans will, sometimes, maybe, admit that. What the Simi thinks about how they are viewed by others depends on their personality. Some like it, some don't, some will bite the hand of your client if they try to scratch them behind the ear. But the fact of the matter remains that they are (most of the time) perfect assistants, shop clerks, secretaries and cleaners. But they still will not pay their taxes.
However, despite their protests, the Federation refuses to simplify the legal and economical system for their sake, putting a lot of Simis at risk of falling on the wrong side of the law out of inability to keep up with it. That is where the Union comes in, as well as the unique way the Simis tend to be employed throughout the galaxy. When employing a Simi, one is expected to also take care of said Simi outside of work, most of the time by allowing them to live with them, as per the conditions that are decided by the Simi's contract (that the Simi decided for themselves based on what they are comfortable with, those are not standardized conditions.)
The Union has been conceptualized and is ran by Simis themselves and represents the biggest legal organ within the Federation that looks out for the interests of Simis. While they are called an Union, they are also the closest they come to a government. Most, if not all Simis, have been raised with the idea that the Union will protect them from harm. They do not take kindly to being treated "like slaves". And, even if history bores them to no end, they are aware of their past as species.
They still forget their taxes, but that's a problem for their caretakers now.
Making Your Own
Simis are covered in fur and have a beak that is partially covered in said fur. They are around half the size of a Devoma. Their have three fingers and an opposable thumb and three toes on their cat-like feet. Biologically female Simis do not have any breasts, as they lay eggs. All Simi wear at least pants but sometimes skip out on shirts when the shape of their fur would make wearing them difficult.
Simi are only available to those that already own a Devoma.
Like pets, Simi MYOs are available on the discord server as a reward for activity there. However, for those that do not have the time, a single MYO costs $3 and gives you access to the following traits:
Details (They all have that)
Head Traits (Can be combined)
Torso Traits (Can be combined)
Tail Traits (Pick one)
Once you have made a reference sheet for your Simi, please submit them for approval through any channel that might be used for the approval of a Devoma.
Because of their smaller size, shapeless bodies and "reduced" intellect, we ask owners to abstain from creating mature content with their Simi characters.
