Demovas do not have a homewold today, but they used to have one. Its name, passed down through the celebration of festivals dedicated to its memory, was Mä.
Some Devoma believe that, one day, they will find Mä again. Others believe that Mä has become the place in the afterlife that is dedicated for them. But, no matter what they believe, Mä has been destroyed so long ago that it has become interwoven in demovian mythos as the promised land, the place where all prejudice against them finally cease and where they can live in peace.
The exact location of where Mä used to be in the galaxy is unknown from all... except from those that would steal the information from the Xoov archives. Why is it the only known record of Mä today, you ask?
Because the Xoov are the one that destroyed them.
This is the single event that cemented Xoovs as the incarnation of evil in Devoma culture. From the most ancient tales of this wrecking comes the name of the one that orchestrated the operation, which is best translated as either "Black Star" or "Black Hole."
They should have died. But they lived!
Indeed, they should have died. They were just starting to explore space using their powers and only a fraction of them had evolved the necessary resistance to temporary survive in complete emptiness. They could not possibly reach the nearest livable planet!
There is no exact record of what happened next except those found in Devoma mythology. According to all the legends found across the galaxy, shortly before the destruction of Mä, beings of light appeared before the demovian people. They prophesied the destruction of their world and asked those that would dare to step forward and follow them. Understandably, many doubted them. Only a few dared to take that leap, and they are said to be the ancestors of all Devomas alive today.
The legends then speak about how the being of lights, their name sometimes translated as angels, then blessed Devomas with godly endurance and the ability to travel great distances in the blink of an eye. They then let the Devomas leave their home "under the hidden waters" (which is theorized to either be hyperspace or literal water) and thrust them back into the galaxy.
