notes on the rules and their applications
This list of rules is not exhaustive and members can be given strikes or banned for other reasons at the owner or moderators' discretion.
A ban includes a permanent ban from all species-related spaces. It does not include voiding the designs that ones owns. Their role is, first and foremost, to protect the community from troublesome individuals and they are not given lightly. However, if one deems the ban unfair, they have the right to explain or re-contextualize their behavior in private messages. The species follows a three-strike rule. Strikes may be removed after a certain period of time if the offensive behavior has not re-occurred. As a rule of thumb, "hard no-s" rules are harmful behaviors that the offender could have chosen not to partake in but did anyway, while "context dependent" rules breaks could originate in a lack of social awareness. People that are know to break the "hard no-s" rules in other species or servers will not receive an immediate ban but will be closely monitored. The only exception to this is the advocating for pedophilia or bestiality rule and all of its subsequent clauses. Please do note that characters that engage in behaviors that, if they were real people, would break "hard no-s" rules are allowed unless they would break the "no pedophilia, no bestiality rule". However, proper disclaimers must be used, the character cannot be a blatant outlet for the hateful views of the owner, and slurs must still be avoided or heavily censored. *Fetishisation of groups of people is tricky to define on paper but is recognizable when seen in action; we draw the line at it being a repeated pattern of behaviors that could make people from those groups uncomfortable. If it becomes apparent that a someone is constantly making characters from a minority group that they are not part of, spreading harmful or misleading representation of that group, and shows a lack of understanding regarding its diversity, we will considering that this person is fetishising that group. This is applicable whether or not this person is creating NSFW content for said group, although that might enter into account when estimating the gravity of the situation. 18+ Content
Also referred to as NSFW content, 18+ content includes all discussions of sexual topics, extreme violence, gore, and all subjects that would not be appropriate for a minor to discuss with an adult according to western culture.
Such content is allowed within species-related spaces as long as it is shared in the appropriate NSFW channels. Make sure that you follow the guidelines of the sites you are posting to and to always tag them appropriately. (For example, when posting a work that includes explicit sexual content on Toyhou.se, you must mark it as 18+ due to sexual content.) In addition to that, if your work contains triggering content, you must preface it with a trigger warning. Triggering content includes but is not limited to:
Those trigger warnings must be repeated in the discord NSFW chat when sharing a work. In addition to that, if the triggering happens to be an image, that image must be spoilered. Concerning the access of NSFW chats in the discord derver, one must ask a mod for access and disclose that they are over the age of 18. Mods may put candidates for the NSFW role through a short verification process in private messages to prove their age. Consensual, sexual content does not need to be spoilered in NSFW chats. As a heads up, just because we require members to share their creations respectfully does not mean that we disapprove of their creation. As a group, we believe in both freedom of expression and respecting other's boundaries and this is the balance that we strive for. |
